I never expected this fwom unknown and young bunch of players. As I grew up watching great Indian players like Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly etc. I thought Indian team did not have chance to go into final. The new team proved many of us wrong and pull of great victory. Kudos to them.

IPL Player Auction

I am, and many of you, stunned by the money involved in IPL players auction. Its simply mind boggling. Money involved in cricket could easily change the Indian parents perspective of the career for their kids. In olden days, parents used feed the dreams of doctors, IAS/IPS officer to their kids. Days passed and people added career in the line of IIT/IIM and IT to the dream box. Now with so much money spending on players in IPL and chances are that IPL may well take the course of English Premier League and gets bigger. It's the high time parents to add Cricket as one of the dream jobs to their kitty.

Any comments?

India buys cricket's crown

Thoughts on Cricket News?

Full Story Click Here
[hr]
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is cashed up like few other world sporting organisations. Unlike Australia, its revenues are not shared on the same basis with its players, leaving it with a bank balance some believe now reaches into the billions.

But that could change with players in demand, such as Sachin Tendulkar, predicted to earn upwards of $40 million through the new competition.

"We've been playing India for 60 years but we hardly ever played them until they got rich," concedes one Australian intimately familiar with cricket's power shift in recent years.

"India has more than a billion people. It has a huge television audience, an extraordinary one. But not only is it enormous, there is a very large percentage of that audience who want to watch cricket.

"India now accounts for 70 per cent of global cricket revenue. Everyone wants to play India, everyone wants them to visit because the TV revenue implications are incredibly lucrative.

"And so how does the saying go? 'He who owns the gold, makes the rules'."
